West Yorkshire Operational Lost Dog Tracking Team
We currently have seven operational Lost Dog Tracking dogs and handlers on our West Yorkshire team. These consist of a range of breeds, including crossbreeds, Golden Retrievers, Australian Kelpies, Dutch Shepherds, and Springer Spaniels (amongst others!). Our operational dogs continue their training with regular in-person training as well as participating in an specialist online coaching group. We also have several more dogs and handlers working their way through our training program for certification.
Lost Dog Tracking Training
Claire’s specialist training program runs over three intensive levels. Each level of training involves multiple days and covers a mix of theory and practical training for dogs and handlers. The training is challenging, but deeply rewarding! Completion of Level Three involves certification and an invitation to join a regional operational Lost Dog Tracking teams as appropriate, expanding the network and helping more lost dogs make their way home.
Want to Become Part of the Team?
If you want to become a volunteer with the West Yorkshire team, then I recommend attending an Introduction workshop, to see if this is a suitable training endeavour for you and your dog. If you want to pursue further training and are prepared to dedicate time and energy to volunteering with the team, Claire runs multi-day workshops for all three levels here in Huddersfield.
