Foundation Agility is back! We are running a 4-week course covering all the basics for starting out on you and your dog’s agility journey.
What is agility? Agility is a fast-paced dog sport where a dog and handler work as a team to tackle a course of agility equipment. Dogs have fun accelerating through tunnels, over jumps, and around weave poles, but it takes clear, accurate information from a handler to ensure their dog completes all the equipment in the correct order. Foundation agility training builds strong communication and necessary skills, ensuring you and your dog can start learning the equipment with confidence, safety, and speed!
Over four weeks, your dog will learn the foundation training required for starting agility, including jump skills, target training, wait training, forward drive, and distance control. We will also introduce some body awareness and fitness skills for your dog.
We’ll also cover motivation, reward, and reinforcement, as well as body language cues and techniques for the human half of the team!
Class will run weekly 7:00 – 7:45pm from Friday 10th November at our indoor venue.
- All breeds welcome!
- Dogs must be at least 6 months old at the start of the course.
- This is frequently an action-orientated class, so dogs should be comfortable working around other dogs and people.
Please note: dogs and handlers who have completed Foundation Agility are invited to join our outdoor Beginner Agility class! However, dogs cannot join our Beginner Agility classes until they are 12-18 months old depending on breed/size.
